- "The Chinese Professional Club of Houston was started in 1950 by a group of Chinese professionals to: To improve the professional knowledge and business skills of the members through periodic seminars, lectures, and round-table discussions, to promote the general welfare of the community through raising of funds for scholarships and to advance the mutual understanding and social enjoyment of the members through regular social gatherings. . It was originally called the Chinese University Club because the original members were all university students or recent graduates. At the time, most of the professionals in Houston were graduates of either the University of Houston or Rice University. Later it was decided to change its name to Chinese Professional Club to become more inclusive of all professionals of Chinese descent. These professionals consisted of architects, bankers, doctors and nurses, pharmacists, lawyers, engineers, educators, and other professionals."
- "One of the early members Y. Parker Gee, composed a theme song called the Chinese Professional Club Theme Song. The words went:"
“We all stick together, we’re the pros.
Constantly improving what we know.
Shriving always to be skillful,
whenever we do the things we should, we grow.
Working for what is right is all we see.
We strive to serve our community.
We work to raise funds for our young,
to help them in their university.
Our Chinese Professional Club theme song.
Our goal for thought, and it keep us going strong!
Our Chinese Professional Club theme song.
Some of us hum, Some sing merrily along!
We try to keep all things running smooth.
We maintain a fellowship that’s good.
As the sun shines on each new day,
with grateful hearts giving thanks to God.”

- "The CPC started having annual galas around the time of Chinese New Year to celebrate the Lunar New Year usually in hotel ballrooms. Later, this gala became also the occasion to present and award the scholarships. Later in the spring of each year, the CPC would also hold an appreciation dinner for the departing officers and to install the new officers each year, often in Chinese restaurants."
- "My father Sui S. Tang had recently graduated from Rice University with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and was invited to join as one of the early members around 1954. My Uncle William Chung was an electrical engineer and his wife Jane Chung was a nurse and also joined CPC around the same time. As a youngster, I would often attend CPC activities with my parents. After finishing my medical training and began my plastic surgery practice, I joined CPC and became active. CPC activities I recall attending included many pot luck dinners, often with speakers about various topics related to financial planning, medical topics on physical and mental fitness, cancer prevention, book talks, piano concert by pianist Lang Lang, wine tasting dinners, and museum tours. There were mah jong parties. There was a talk about the 2008 Beijing Olympics by Ping Sun, wife of then president of Rice University. Some of the CPC members were expert dancers and their galas had ballroom dancing, which inspired my wife and me to start taking dancing lessons on our own which we did for over ten years. We had annual golf tournaments from about 1996 to 2019 at various golf courses in the Houston area, some of which I took part in organizing. I became active in CPC and CPC Scholarship Fund Inc. serving in various capacities on various committees including the scholarship committee for several years, as treasurer of both organizations, on the investment committees, audit committees, and as president of both organizations. My experiences with CPC through the years have been valuable to me, especially in the friendships that I developed and have many lifelong friends who are fellow CPC members. It also helped me in developing my leadership and organizational skills serving on the various committees and offices in CPC and CPC Scholarship Fund, Inc."
